Here is this week’s Wealth Beyond Money Top 5 things on my mind.
1) One Wealth Beyond Money Idea
I’m going to take a break from Wealth Beyond Money this week and share what’s on my heart and mind. Messy and unclear to me as it is.
With half a life time of chapters complete, my ten year search for freedom and truth feels empty now. I feel called to reimagine a new version of self, let the old self go, and lean into uncertainty.
I don’t regret my commitment to seeking freedom in a more techno-authoritarian world but freedom without meaning is like being adrift, alone in the middle of the ocean. That kind of isolation might appeal to some. It has its advantages and it’s also not for me.
I don’t regret my commitment to seeking truth and believing as few false things as possible, but truth-seeking never ends. It’s easier to be at peace with the mystery and accept there will always be the unknown and false beliefs.
This might be about searching for meaning.
My focus is turning inward and my life scope is scaling down to what meaningful potential can I dance with today step-by-step, day-by-day. Maybe it’s another thing to chase? I don't know but this is the journey I'm going to take.
2) One Tweet
One of the greatest mass delusions I observe is what well off and successful looks like. Status markers are all the rage. No consideration is given to the costs to your time, health, and relationships you most value. You might look rich and still not be wealthy.
3) One Thing I’m Exploring
Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain
Bourdain's first food and world-travel television show A Cook's Tour ran for 35 episodes followed by popular travel shows like Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Although best known for his culinary writings and television presentations, along with several books on food and cooking and travel adventures, Bourdain also wrote both fiction and historical nonfiction.
On June 8, 2018, Bourdain died by suicide while on location in France, filming for Parts Unknown.
4) One Quote
It takes courage to say yes to rest and play in a culture where exhaustion is seen as a status symbol.
5) One Question For You
What unrealized costs am I paying for my status symbols and is it worth it?
