Happy Friday and a big welcome to all new subscribers, thanks for subscribing.
Here is your weekly dose of Wealth Beyond Money Top 5 things on my mind.
1) One Wealth Beyond Money Idea
Work on who you are more than what you have or what you do.
We are conditioned to value ourselves and others based on what we possess or what we do.
Fancy house? High value!
Doctor AND Lawyer? Wow, high value!
Living by integrity and kindness? 🥱
Integrity and kindness (among other high value being‐qualities) are not easily packaged and sold. In the flashy world of money above wealth it is easy to get seduced by the qualities of having and doing.
We might seek it for ourselves and use it to size up others.
Unfortunately having and doing based self-worth is a shaky foundation for a healthy and stable sense of self esteem. Valuing relationships based on possessions or activities (to the exclusion of being qualities) might find you in a world of disillusionment and unfulfilling relationships.
Ask Bernie Madoff's victims.
If you are working on being the best version of yourself and the people in your life value and only see the having and doing aspects, your wealth beyond money journey will include deciding which relationships are worth keeping around.
2) One Tweet
Mr. Money Mustache is well known in early retirement circles and someone I have been following for a long time as an early retiree. He does a great job of breaking down things to consider when comparing income producing real estate and stocks in this week’s tweet.
Check out his website if this type on content resonates with you.
3) One Thing I’m Exploring
Burning Man
Burning Man is an event focused on community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance held annually in Black Rock, Nevada. The name of the event comes from its culminating ceremony: the symbolic burning of a large wooden effigy, referred to as the Man, that occurs on the penultimate night of Burning Man.
If you have been or plan on being there this year I want to hear from you if you would like share tips.
4) One Quote
Mental toughness is often portrayed as determination and persistence but it can also be flexibility and adaptability. You are tough when your mood is not dependent on conditions.
Examples:
I can be happy anywhere.
I can work with what I have.
I can have a good day with anyone.
5) One Question For You to Consider
Which condition in my life do I frequently blame for my mood?
