Every time a post is published I share one wealth beyond money idea, something personally inspiring beyond wealth and money, and for paid subscribers an easy and unconventional way to earn some money with my analysis of the opportunity if you take action, and one question for you to consider.
One Wealth Beyond Money Idea
Consider the difference between: price, cost, and value.
The limits of my language are the limits of my world- Ludwig Wittgenstein
Price, cost, and value are often confused. Knowing the difference will help you make decisions creating more wealth in your life. Hereâs an example:
The price you are willing to pay can easily sway your decision if it is the only factor taken into consideration.
The cost is where most consumers shoot themselves in the foot when making decisions. In addition to hidden costs to your health, time, and attention there are lost opportunity costs that are not part of the price.
Every time you make a purchase you give up the opportunity to buy something else that can positively impact your overall wealth. Instead of maximizing for best price (or immediate pleasure) consider minimizing the overall cost instead.
But Ed I live for free things!
Free is free for a reason. Big tech and media companies know the value of your time and attention, they have the revenues to prove it!
Getting clear on your values requires time and paying attention to the quiet, inner voice of what lights you up and draws you in. Itâs not delivered to you via algorithm, scrolling aimlessly, or spending time and paying attention to advertisers. A passive approach to values results in adopting the values incessantly promoted to you via media, family, and the culture you grow up in.
When was the last time a politician or media company asked about your values and best interests? If your actions show you value a digital dopamine fix then thatâs what you will get served up.
Creating an abundant life by managing your time, attention, and energy in alignment with your values is the work needed to create a life of wealth.
Beyond Wealth and Money
A friend recommended Rose Island after mentioning my plans to attend the Floating Man festival with Liberland this summer. I recently became a Liberland resident as a way to experiment with alternative governance to the nation state model.
For those of you who have not heard of it, Liberland, officially the Free Republic of Liberland, is the latest in a series of emerging micro nations. Founded by Czech libertarian politician and activist VĂt Jedlicka, it is an uninhabited parcel of disputed land on the western bank of the Danube, between Croatia and Serbia.
These micro nations have been tried in the past with results like the one portrayed in Rose Island back in 1968.
