Happy Friday!
Of all the parts in my newsletter this section is the hardest for me in organizing my thoughts and sharing small bits of my life. I’ve come to realize that a life time starting in childhood participating in one-way, top-down relationships are a large part of the resistance in expressing what I have to say. Sit down, shut up and listen at school, at church, in front of media etc.
That being said I’ve been working with my subconscious to help me complete the vision of what I would like my life to look like. One of those things is to lay the foundation for a community of people who share similar values. Retirement in the classical sense is at least two decades away but building a community of like minded people with whom to more fully engage in life seems like a great use of my resources. It’s great to turn your dreams into reality and it can be enhanced by creating with others who share the same values.
Every time I publish a post I share one lifestyle design idea, something I am reading, something that inspired me, and one question for my readers.
Ready for this edition? Vamooooooos!
One Lifestyle Design Idea From Me
Calendar everything that matters to you.
Our life is a function of the commitments we keep. These may not be commitments you want but if you do it nonetheless on a consistent basis it will be the foundation for the life you create.
We all get 168 hours per week with nearly a third of the time spent on sleeping (unplugging from the 3D version of reality our mind projects and surrendering into the higher mind) and by the nature of the financial system we operate in another third or more of our time is spent earning money to keep our commitments to family, creditors, community, and habits filling in the remaining time gaps in our day.
There you have it. That’s your life on loop. So break the loop.
Calendar 15 minutes a day with a daily notification on your phone (leverage that technology for your benefit) to do the things that will bring you more of what you value. If you are like me you might encounter resistance so consider how committed you are to your well-being.
I’ve started calendering a morning phone notification to express gratitude for love and meaning in my life. Also started calendering a nightly reminder before bedtime requesting my sub-conscious to help me complete my vision of the things I value. Putting those eight hours of sleep to the best use possible!
Does it happen every day? No, but that daily notification makes habit-forming a lot easier. If you are already doing this please share how this is working our for you in the comments below.
What I Am Reading
Been reading a few things these last few weeks.
Really enjoying Together: The Healing Power of Human Connection In A Sometimes Lonely World by US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.
Humans are social creatures: In this simple and obvious fact lies both the problem and the solution to the current crisis of loneliness. In his groundbreaking book, the 19th surgeon general of the United States Dr. Vivek Murthy makes a case for loneliness as a public health concern: a root cause and contributor to many of the epidemics sweeping the world today from alcohol and drug addiction to violence to depression and anxiety. Loneliness, he argues, is affecting not only our health, but also how our children experience school, how we perform in the workplace, and the sense of division and polarization in our society.
Social media has been a major reason for an increase in loneliness and mental health issues. The time, energy, and attention we invest in screen-only, social media relationships may not offer all the relational nourishment we need to reach our potential.
One Thing That Inspired Me
How you self-love is how you other-love.
One Question For My Readers
Can I reduce time, energy, and attention from things that leave me feeling empty and double down on things that fill me up?
If you found value here it would mean a lot to me if you can share it with someone.
Comments, questions, or thoughts from you the reader are always welcomed.
Until next time. Happy week ahead!
